RIMON KIRSHT-BUCHSHTAB

Rimon was released on November 28th.

It’s not easy to write about Rimon, without knowing whether we’re speaking of the present or the past. I wish that anyone reading this never has to be in a similar situation.

A common thread in all of Rimon’s life chapters would be her care and concern for others. When we were children, Rimon was the one who followed in our parent’s footsteps and took care of the plants. Whether it was in the garden at home, working in the kibbutz greenhouse after school with mom, or tending to the school’s greenhouse and vegetable garden – she was flourishing.

Growing up, Rimon continued on this path by studying psychology to care for the soul, and massage therapy to care for the body of her patients – she always laughed, reminding me that her massage therapy career actually began when we were children, and she was stepping back and forth on my back.

HER COMPASION

When our grandmother got sick, she was the one visiting her regularly at her home. When our grandma got too sick and had to move to a senior living facility, Rimon continued to visit, and to care for her.

Even when it was difficult and there were sights that our family wanted to avoid, even when grandma lost the ability to recognize us – Rimon continued to come.

When there’s an opportunity to care for others, that’s where she flourishes! That’s why it only feels natural that Rimon has been surrounding herself with rescue animals, wounded, hurt, and abandoned, who just needed a loving and caring home.

HER MUSIC

Music has always been a significant part of Rimon’s life, and it’s no surprise that it’s one of the threads connecting her to Yagev. But even before they were in the band together, before she started playing the drums, as my younger sister, she was responsible for the musical taste. She always made me CDs with bands and music that “I had to know”.

Many times, people asked me why my musical taste stopped in the mid-2000s, and I immediately answered that it’s because of Rimon – she stopped making me CDs and exposing me to new music (because CDs stopped being a thing); so, since then, I’ve been eagerly waiting for her to continue. There were moments when she suffered from this too, when we were neighbors and lived in adjacent rooms in the kibbutz, she had to listen repeatedly to the same CDs she made herself.

HER PERSONALITY

One of the things I miss the most is visiting Rimon! Rimon always knows how to pamper her loved ones and make them feel special. A royal meal awaits when we come to visit, but it’s not just any meal – Rimon has an impressive memory, and with each visit there are always surprises of things I loved since childhood but had completely forgotten about – she remembers it all.

I hope that in the near future, we can sit and read this text together, because it’s essential she knows how much we miss her, and how we think about her during every spare moment; but also to laugh about all of this as I know that her kind, yet sarcastic sense of humor won’t be impacted, even in the toughest moments, and I can’t wait to hear what she thinks about what has been written.
